“This week, we are reading Aristotle’s account of . In your own words, explain what he means when he says: “Virtue, then, is a state of character concerned with choice, lying in a mean, i.e. the mean relative to us, this being determined by a rational principle, and by that principle by which the man of practical wisdom would determine it.” You may choose to give an example of a situation in which one must use their practical wisdom to determine the virtuous way to act.”

Aristotle suggests that moral virtue is all about character which is a trait that people learn throughout their interactions and not an innate trait. Traits, and therefore virtue, he suggests, is a practical mean of two opposing extremes. A person’s character rests in the middle of two or more extreme vices. Aristotle defines virtue in a practical manner by explaining it in the context of what people do and how their actions affect their feelings. He further explains feelings in terms of pain and pleasure………………………………
